Liverpool will hope to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points when they head to Brentford on Saturday.

Arne Slot’s Reds have suffered a small downturn in form in the league, drawing their last two games.

Liverpool will be up against a Brentford outfit sitting 11th in the Premier League table following a 2-2 draw with Manchester City last time out.

Brentford v Liverpool team news

Slot has confirmed that Diogo Jota is a doubt for Liverpool's Premier League visit to Brentford after feeling discomfort against Nottingham Forest.

Luis Diaz was also unable to train on Thursday, but he is expected to be available for the 3pm GMT kick-off on Saturday.

Darwin Nunez is available after serving a one-match suspension for the midweek game at Forest, while Joe Gomez remains out with a hamstring injury.

As for Brentford, they are set to have the same squad available as for their 2-2 draw with Man City in midweek.

Kristoffer Ajer, Josh Dasilva, Aaron Hickey, Gustavo Nunes, Ethan Pinnock and Igor Thiago are sidelined through injury.

Andrew Robertson could be dropped as Darwin Nunez returns for Liverpool

With Liverpool already through to the Champions League knockouts, Slot could well rest a fair few players against Lille on Tuesday night.

This means a strong Reds starting XI could be on the cards against Brentford in pursuit of pulling further away from second-placed Arsenal.

Alisson Becker is likely to start once again for Liverpool, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was one of Liverpool’s better players in midweek.

Ibrahima Konate wasn’t at his best against Forest, but Slot will surely be keen for him to keep starting and playing his way into fitness.

However, Andrew Robertson really struggled in midweek, so we feel Kostas Tsimikas will replace him at left-back.

Liverpool’s midfield is likely to be unchanged, with Dominik Szoboszlai potentially given another chance to get more minutes under his belt after returning from injury.

And in attack, Slot could opt to rest Diaz after he missed training on Thursday and instead name Darwin Nunez in the starting XI.

The £64million Uruguayan scored a great goal at Brentford last season and he’ll be hoping for more of the same this time round.

Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo could remain in the XI.
