Tottenham Hotspur produced an emphatic 4-1 win over West Ham United and one of their key players was once again electric in his new role.

Tottenham needed to produce a response to their defeat to Brighton just before the international break and did so in fine style by securing Ange Postecoglou’s first major London derby win.

Goals from Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son, Yves Bissouma and an Alphonse Areola own goal secured a crucial three points for the hosts.

Postecoglou's side were finally rewarded for a strong performance with a positive result and the Australian manager has been full of praise for one of his players.

Dejan Kulusevski’s new midfield role

Postecoglou has been explaining why Kulusevski has been so good in his new midfield role which has seen him become one of the best players in the Premier League.

The Australian claims his incredible running ability and all-round game allows him to play in the middle of the park and be so effective.

Speaking after the win against West Ham, Postecoglou told the media: “Yeah, he has been doing that all year and the evolution of Deki as a player, that is now his role not just for us but he’s playing there for the national team too.

“He’s got this ability to get out of tight spaces and he’s a really strong runner. He is relentless in his running capacity and he also has the quality.

“In that final third, I still think we can get more goals out of him, more assists but he is constantly in those threatening areas and he’s been outstanding for us all year.

“Today he had to show some other facets of the game, some defensive work as well which I thought he did well but I thought the whole team did well.”
