Ange Postecoglou leads his Tottenham team into battle with Arsenal this weekend desperate for a win but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t got respect for his opponents.

Postecoglou knows full well this is the biggest game of Spurs’ season so far and with it, it’s also a chance to win.

Arsenal are set to be without Martin Odegaard while Postecoglou has suggested he could have both Dominic Solanke and Micky van de Ven back in his XI.

Of course, Postecoglou has looked on in recent seasons as Arsenal have done everything but overhaul Man City at the top of the table.

And with Postecoglou wanting his Tottenham side to get to those levels, the Aussie has summed the Gunners up in a very succinct way.

Ange Postecoglou sums up Arsenal

Speaking in his press conference prior to facing the Gunners this weekend, Postecoglou conceded his admiration for Tottenham’s biggest rivals and in doing so, summed them up in three words.

“Consistency and approach and mentality. The last two years they've had a real relentlessness about them,” Postecoglou said.

“They haven’t had to change their team too much. They have this confidence in themselves that they can challenge over the course of a Premier League season.

“That helps build momentum from season to season. They're going to be a tough nut to crack, but it's a great opportunity for us.”

Arsenal are everything Tottenham want to be

It might be a controversial take but that’s essentially what the Tottenham manager is getting at here.

He’s suggesting they are consistent in those three areas of their game and with that, has come the success they’ve had under Arteta.

Sure, they’ve not quite got over the line and pipped City to the big one just yet. But they are as close as a team can get and it won’t take much more to get there.

Tottenham are a long way off still and ultimately, they are trying to get to the level of their biggest rivals.

A win this weekend, then, would go a long way to edging closer.
