It's taken a while, but Angel Gomes is finally making a name for himself in English football.

The former Manchester United academy graduate has been a part of both of Lee Carsley's England squads so far, and he's establishing himself as quite a core part of the group.

Speaking to ITV Sport, Gomes has been playing a game of 'Guess Who?' with his England teammate Phil Foden in which he's had to describe a number of his Three Lions teammates.

Gomes had the task of describing Declan Rice, and he gave the Arsenal midfielder some serious praise.

The Lille star noted that Rice is a very energetic player, claiming that he doesn't stop running, while he also hailed the midfielder’s technical ability.

Angel Gomes says Declan Rice doesn't stop running

Gomes tried to describe Rice to Foden by praising his workrate and technical ability.

Foden did have to ponder which England player Gomes was talking about, as this description fits a few of the Three Lions' players.

Indeed, Gomes easily could've been speaking about either Conor Gallagher or Jude Bellingham, but Foden correctly guessed that this was a description for Rice.

"He doesn't stop running, he has legs, he's a technician, he can play," Gomes said.

"Is it Declan?" Foden said.

"Yeah," Gomes said.

Jack Grealish has praised Rice's running ability

Gomes says that Rice is a brilliant runner, and he's not the only player to have expressed this sort of opinion.

Indeed, just a few weeks ago, Jack Grealish hailed Rice's ability to run with the ball, claiming that his drives through the middle remind him of Kevin De Bruyne.

"It's difficult because you cover the ground so well," Grealish said.

"When you drive, bro. You are so quick. You know who you remind me of, I swear, De Bruyne."

"No, listen, what I mean is, Kev isn't mad fast, but when he is running with the ball, he is so hard to catch. But then you would never look at him and say 'he is absolutely rapid'."

Rice does have that impressive ability to cover ground with ease, he's not the fastest, but he runs with such power, and when you combine that with an incredible stride length, you have a midfielder who is almost unstoppable.

Who knows? Perhaps Rice and Gomes could be England's first-choice midfield pairing in the post-Southgate era.
