Antoine Semenyo gave a surprising answer as he named one of Tottenham Hotspur’s players as the best defender he has faced in the Premier League this season.
Bournemouth caused Tottenham big issues earlier this term as the Cherries beat them 1-0 but there was one player in particular who impressed Semenyo.
The winger had a rather quiet afternoon against Spurs as he managed just one attempt at goal on the South Coast.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for Semenyo and his comments on Ange Postecoglou’s team will give them hope.
Antoine Semenyo names Destiny Udogie as his toughest opponent
Antoine Semenyo has named Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie as the toughest opponent he has faced in the Premier League this season.
This is quite a statement considering the Bournemouth winger has faced the likes of Arsenal’s William Saliba and Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.
Udogie had a solid game up against the Ghanaian international as he won 13 out of his 16 duels throughout the match.
When asked about the toughest defender he has faced this season, Semenyo told Ball Talk Podcast: “I think Destiny Udogie of Tottenham. He was definitely the hardest one I played, he was so up and down.
“The way Tottenham play as well, they’re quite similar to us in terms of running, they work hard and run a lot. So he took me backwards, forwards and sideways and it was tough.”
Destiny Udogie’s stats vs Antonie Semenyo
Udogie had one of his best performances of the season when he came up against Semenyo and did a great job of keeping the 25-year-old out of the game.
The Italian international managed one clearance, one interception, six tackles, won 13 out of 16 duels, 78 touches and a 90 percent pass accuracy.

Tottenham will be gutted having just lost Udogie to a hamstring injury although they have Djed Spence to come into the team.
