Liverpool fans have torn into Alisson on social media after a poor performance from the Brazilian goalkeeper.

Alisson has missed a big chunk of the season so far after an injury to the Brazilian keeper.

His replacement, Caoimhin Kelleher, has performed excellently as a replacement for the former Roma man.

However, in a 1-0 loss to Spurs, Alisson struggled with his distribution and was bailed out by Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk on at least two occasions.

In a competition where Kelleher has been first-choice, the decision to start Alisson ahead of the Irishman was a puzzling choice by manager Arne Slot.

Liverpool will play the return leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Anfield, on 6 February.

Liverpool fans call for Kelleher to replace Alisson

In a season where the Merseyside team are competing on multiple fronts, have two great goalkeepers available is a great problem to have.

However, Liverpool will have to make a decision on Kelleher’s future soon as the keeper has been linked with a move away from Anfield.

Despite injury concerns around first-choice Alisson, the Reds are unlikely to sell their shot-stopper, according to recruitment expert, Mick Brown.

Alisson is in his seventh season for Liverpool since joining from Roma and has been first choice since joining the club.

One fan called the decision to start Alisson “insulting,” whilst another said Kelleher should be “straight back into the starting 11” on his return from suspension.

In other news, Liverpool will sign a replacement for one of their defenders this January.
