Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko has sent a message to Man City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne after the two came up against each other on international duty.

The pair are of course no strangers to each, other having been teammates at the Etihad Stadium for several years between 2017 and 2022.

That then came to an end in the summer of 2022, when Zinchenko departed the club in order to complete a move to Arsenal.

Despite that it appears as though he remains on good terms with his former Man City teammates judging by his latest social media update.

Once again this season, the left-back has not been a regular feature in the starting lineup for Mikel Arteta’s side.

As a result, Zinchenko was recently touted for a move away from Arsenal in the January transfer window although no deal materialised.

By contrast, he remains a key player for his national team, where he remains a consistent starter for Ukraine.

That was again the case on Thursday night (20 March) where the Arsenal man played the full 90 minutes for his country as they beat Belgium 3-1 in the first leg of their Nations League play-off.

De Bruyne likewise started that game for Belgium before being substituted after 70 minutes, although it appears Zinchenko was still happy to see his former teammate.

Taking to his Instagram story after the game, the Arsenal man posted a picture of himself talking with the Man City star.

He then tagged De Bruyne before adding a loveheart and hugging emoji, to show he is still on good terms with his former teammate turned opponent.

Arsenal ace to take an interest in Man City movement this summer

Football Insider Verdict

Similarly to Zinchenko, this has been a season where De Bruyne has not been as involved for his club as he has been in the past.

That has also led to suggestion that De Bruyne could be set to leave Man City in the summer, when his contract at the Etihad is due to expire.

Based on this post, Zinchenko is still good friends with the midfielder, despite the fact his move to Arsenal means they are no longer teammates.

As a result, he may be one who is following the situation with De Bruyne come the end of the season to see exactly how things work out for a friend of his.
