Arsenal may need to address their midfield balance in the near future.

The Gunners have some fantastically talented midfield players on their books at the moment.

Declan Rice is fantastic in that holding role, while Thomas Partey and Jorginho are proven commodities at this level.

However, Partey's contract is up at the end of the season, while Jorginho isn't getting any younger.

Partey has been linked with Barcelona as of late, so that move could appeal to the Ghanaian, while Besiktas want Jorginho according to reports.

With that in mind, Arsenal may need some more midfield depth, and according to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1 TV, the Gunners are looking at Adam Wharton.

Kay spoke about Arsenal and their interest in numerous midfielders.

The journalist says that Arsenal have scouted Jobe Bellingham, and he is on the Gunners' list of potential targets.

Real Madrid are keen on Bellingham too, while Kay says that Arsenal are also looking at Adam Wharton and Lucien Agoume.

"Yeah, there's nothing big about it. He's someone Arsenal have looked at and scouted (Jobe Bellingham). He's on that list of young upcoming midfielders that Arsenal are looking to bring in January or more likely the summer.

"He's one of the players that Arsenal are looking at along with Adam Wharton and Lucien Agoume from Seville."

What Harry Kane has said about Adam Wharton

The Wharton to Arsenal links to have legs to them.

According to information from TBR Football's chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, Arsenal do like Wharton, but this isn't advanced interest at this stage.

Arsenal are considering their midfield options, and while there is interest in Bellingham, they may be more inclined to go for Chris Rigg from Sunderland.

Wharton would be an excellent signing for Arsenal, that's for sure.

The midfielder earned an England call-up over the summer after his incredible start to life at Crystal Palace, and he even earned praise from Harry Kane.

Indeed, Kane named Wharton as his young player to watch out for last year.

To earn that sort of praise from a player like Harry Kane you have to be something special, and Wharton certainly fits that bill.

The £19m man is a top player, and this is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.
