Thomas Partey’s £150,000-a-week deal is expected to be “removed” from the wage bill at Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the outlet's website on 9 January, the Ghanaian's contract will be run down ahead of his exit in the summer when his contract expires in June.

The club are reportedly also willing to "listen to offers" for ex-Man City duo Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, who both signed back in 2022.

But until exits like these the club "cannot afford" to sign Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, despite making him the main priority signing in the summer window.

Arsenal could be making space for Alexander Isak

Football Insider opinion

If Arsenal decide to part ways with Partey and his lucrative contract, along with Jesus and Zinchenko, there are three players who could help generate the funds needed to facilitate a move for Isak.

The club has long admired the Swedish international, but given his outstanding form this season, every major club in Europe is likely to have taken notice.

With 15 goals and four assists in all competitions for Newcastle this season, his consistent goal-scoring ability would make him an ideal addition for the North London club.

Arsenal are long-term admires of Alexander Isak.

Arsenal fans witnessed firsthand Isak's ability to capitalize on half-chances when Newcastle defeated them 2-0 at the Emirates on 7 January. They also saw Gabriel Martinelli’s crucial miss just moments before Isak's opener, an incident that sparked outrage among the fans.

Football Insider revealed that Arsenal are targeting a forward, although it may be in the winger position.

A hamstring injury to Bukayo Saka, along with injuries to both Ethan Nwaneri and Raheem Sterling at the same time, might prompt them to focus on signing a winger instead.

It remains to be seen which position the club will prioritise this January, Whether they will move forward with a bid for their long-term target or if the cost will prove too high for a player of his calibre, it’s certain the club need reinforcements.

That may mean a decision like letting Partey leave could seem like the financially right thing to do.
