Arsenal have made it two wins out of two on their return to action after the international break as they ran out 5-1 winners over Sporting CP in the Champions League.
The Gunners, fresh from hammering Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the Premier League, made light work of the Lisbon giants at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Tuesday night.
After just seven minutes, Jurrien Timber picked the ball up on the right and sent a delivery across goal which Gabriel Martinelli tapped in at the back post.
Arsenal then got a second in the 22nd minute as Timber set Thomas Partey up for a lofted pass into the path of Saka, who poked past Franco Israel for Kai Havertz to tap in.
The Gunners continued to dominate against Sporting and, in first-half injury time, Gabriel Magalhaes headed home – unmarked – from a Declan Rice corner.
Arsenal did suffer a scare early on after the restart when Goncalo Inacio peeled away from his marker and met a low cross with a half-volley past David Raya.
However, the Gunners restored their three-goal advantage in the 65th minute after Martin Odegaard was brought down in the box for a penalty which Saka smashed home.
And seven minutes from time, Leandro Trossard nodded into the net after Israel kept out a Mikel Merino effort to make it 5-1 to the North Londoners.
After the game, numerous Arsenal fans all said the same thing about Timber, who delivered an incredible display from right-back.
