'Arsenal make Raheem Sterling transfer window decision as Brighton star wanted'

Arsenal look set to keep Raheem Sterling to fill the gap left by Bukayo Saka after the latest January transfer window update.
The Gunners have been linked with numerous forward signings following the injury to star player Saka.
Adding to the frustration, Sterling—Saka's supposed deputy—was also injured at the same time, leaving fans disheartened and suggesting the Chelsea loanee could be sent back to Stamford Bridge early.
However, Ethan Nwaneri has proved a viable option after his performance vs Brentford on 1 January. If Sterling can come back fit, those two options could seem productive.
Despite many assuming a winger will be coming in to fill in that void, it seems as if Arteta has other plans and is instead shifting the focus back on a striker.
Arsenal need a prolific option upfront so a striker is necessary
The North London side have been linked with several high-profile strikers, including Dusan Vlahovic, even before Saka's injury.
Sterling has scored just one goal in 426 minutes at the club. The Englishman however, remains determined to prove his worth and, if he recovers quickly, could still stake a claim for the right-wing role.
Nwaneri's recent display against Brentford, however, earned praise from Arteta, who hinted that the 17-year-old might also be a long-term option. He said: “We could sign a player from any country (but) he would be playing. He's an academy player and he needs to play because he deserves it” [via Daily Mail].
Reports have now linked Arsenal with Brighton's Evan Ferguson, according to talkSPORT.
Ferguson might not be at the forefront of fans' minds, but his attributes such as his physicality, height, and a youthful profile, are exactly what Arteta’s forward line lacks.
The Irishman is also attracting interest from other clubs, with Football Insider revealing that West Ham are keen on signing him.
For Arsenal to secure his services, it would require a permanent deal, as the club has already filled its two domestic loan slots.
If Arteta is focused on bringing in a number nine during the winter window it makes it that much less likely he will also land reinforcements on the wing.
Such a move would signal a leap of faith not only in Ferguson's potential but also in Sterling to fill in the gap out wide for the time-being.
