Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard posted a goodbye message on social media as he enjoyed time away on international break.
The Norwegian playmaker played a pivotal role in his country’s World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Israel, showcasing his influence one the national stage.
Odegaard delivered a standout performance on 25 March, registering three assists in Norway’s 4-2 win over Israel, a display that highlighted his return to top form after a somewhat inconsistent season at Arsenal.
Despite his brilliance in the recent international break, Odegaard has faced criticism from Arsenal fans earlier this season for a lack of consistent goal contributions. However, his recent performances served as a reminder of his potential to influence games.
After the win, Norwegian teammate Erling Haaland posted a message to fans, and Odegaard also took to social media to share his own thoughts and reflecting on the victory.
Arsenal fans express frustration with Martin Odegaard after inconsistent performances
Odegaard bid farewell to Norwegian supporters with a post on Instagram that read:”Good collection. See you in June” (translated from Norwegian).
His message received interactions from his Arsenal teammates, including likes from Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice.
However, despite his popularity among teammates, Odegaard's performances at club level have not lived up to expectations. The playmaker has managed just two goals and four assists in the Premier League this season, a far cry from the high standards expected from the captain.
Arsenal fans have called for Odegaard to be stripped of the captaincy following these poor performances, as the side look set to finish second for the third consecutive season.
With key players like Saka, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus suffering injuries this season, supporters were hoping their captain would rise to the occasion, but that hasn't been the case. As a result, Arsenal find themselves 12 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.

Arsenal fend off interest in Gabriel and William Saliba amid growing exit speculation
Despite his underwhelming season, Odegaard remains an integral part of Mikel Arteta's plans, having made 32 appearances so far this campaign. Meanwhile, Arsenal's defensive duo of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba have been in excellent form, drawing attention from other top clubs.
Football Insider revealed that Arsenal are planning to offer Gabriel a new contract, to deter interest from Al-Nassr, who are reportedly preparing an ambitious bid for the Brazilian.
Similarly, Real Madrid have sent scouts to monitor Saliba's performances, although the French defender still has two years left on his current deal at the Emirates.
Odegaard, Gabriel, and Saliba have been mainstays in Arteta's starting lineup, and their consistency will be crucial for a strong finish to the season.
