Christian Falk, head of football at German outlet Bild, revealed on X that “Williams is closer to an Arsenal transfer than Bayern” providing a major boost for the Gunners in their pursuit of the winger.
The Gunners have held a long-standing interest in the 22-year-old [The Athletic], but face competition for his signature.
Last summer, Football Insider revealed that Aston Villa were also keen on the Williams though they have since signed Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio to bolster their attack.
Williams caught the eye with a standout performance against England in the Euro 2024 final and has carried that form into this season. So far, he has registered nine goals and seven assists in 37 appearances, adding to the 24 goal contributions he recorded last season.
