Arsenal need to have a busy January transfer window.

Arsenal are just lagging behind a little bit in the Premier League title race at the moment, and that's down to their inability to score goals.

Arsenal have struggled in front of goal as of late. Kai Havertz has been criticised this week for his performances in the cup competitions, while Arsenal had a run of three games without scoring from open play last month.

Arsenal do have some attacking targets in mind though.

Arsenal want Dusan Vlahovic, while Jonathan David is an option for Arsenal up front.

Arsenal are also looking at wingers.

Rafael Leao has been linked to Arsenal, while Nico Williams is Arsenal's top target.

Speaking on KS1 TV, Steve Kay has been discussing Arsenal's links to Williams, and he says that the Gunners can afford Williams, but getting the attacker out of Athletic Club is a different proposition.

Arsenal can afford Nico Williams

Kay shared what he knows about Arsenal and their finances.

The journalist says that Arsenal are in a good position financially and have money to spend in January.

Kay says that Arsenal could go out and buy Nico Williams, but, convincing the player to leave his club is another matter.

"We're in quite a good position now. We do have money to spend in January. The rules came into play in the summer and we were cash-strapped, we couldn't buy. In January, we could go and get Nico Williams in January for instance, Mikel Arteta wants him, but getting him out of Bilbao in January is like a no-go," Kay said.

Who could Arsenal sign instead?

Nico Williams is a dream target for Arsenal, but, as Kay says, it's going to be hard to convince him to leave Bilbao.

So, who else could Arsenal sign in those wide areas?

Bryan Mbeumo has been linked to Arsenal, Arsenal have scouted Takefusa Kubo recently, while Alex Baena has been linked too.

A look at the stats suggests that all three of these players could actually be better options than Williams in any case.

Williams isn't having the best of seasons, and Arsenal may be better off looking at Mbeumo, Kubo or Baena this month.

Whether or not Arsenal pursue any of these deals in January remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, the Gunners do need some attacking reinforcements, especially after Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka went down injured.

Gary Neville thinks Arsenal can win the league still, but they may need to get some business done in January in order to do that.
