Aston Villa finalising details in negotiations – Player now 'very close' to move and Villa exit

On Friday it was reported Bayer Leverkusen were making moves to sign Emiliano Buendia from Aston Villa. The Bundesliga champions were looking for a replacement for the injury-striken Martin Terrier and had set their eyes on the Argentine.
They weren’t the first club to pinpoint Buendia for the current market, with claims earlier in January that River Plate were considering a swoop for the Aston Villa player. Their plan was to use Buendia as a boost for their Copa Libertadores aims but it doesn’t appear they got the move off the ground.
On Sunday it was reported Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen held fresh talks for the move over the weekend, although they hadn’t managed to get those negotiations close to a conclusion.
On Monday evening, Cesar Luis Merlo reports Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen are negotiating the final details of a loan which will have an option to buy for the German club.
He states Buendia is now ‘very close’ to moving.
After Cesar Luis Merlo’s statement, Florian Plettenberg soon joined in with similar claims.
