Aston Villa player's arrival at new club pushed back again – Delay confusion building
Yesterday at 07:54 AM
Diego Carlos' flight to Turkey has again been delayed as his move to Fenerbahçe from Aston Villa continues to stumble.
That's according to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, who say a new flight plan has now been arranged for the defender. The plan is for him to arrive in Istanbul at 22:00 local time.
Fenerbahce have reached an agreement with Aston Villa to sign the Brazilian defender this month. The Villans are keen to move him on and potentially replace him with Sevilla's Loic Bade.
A deal has been steadily progressing but getting the defender to Turkey has proven to be problematic.
A report earlier today explained Carlos' flight had been delayed, leaving the various parties scraping around to sort out another plan.
That stated the idea was for the Aston Villa man to arrive in the early hours of Tuesday morning, then it was delayed until 18:00 local time, but Sabuncuoğlu now reports that it’s been delayed again. A new flight plan has been drawn up for him to arrive at 22:00 instead. The reason for this isn't mentioned.
Sabuncuoğlu, though, does appear slightly perturbed by the whole affair. In replies on the matter, he makes it clear he is not sure what is happening or causing the continued pushbacks.
The obvious answer is that there is a problem in the negotiations between Aston Villa and Fenerbahce, but nobody is able to confirm that as yet. Instead, Carlos is now scheduled to arrive in Istanbul at 22:00, yet there's every chance that gets changed too.
