Aston Villa player withdraws from NT duty – Tests result in him being released

Aston Villa defender Pau Torres has been withdrawn from the Spain squad for the ongoing international break.
This has been confirmed by the national team’s official channel on X, formerly known as Twitter, today.
They state the Aston Villa player arrived at the camp with a ‘muscle discomfort’ and had undergone examinations to find out the extent of the damage.
The tests results have seen the Royal Spanish Football Federation’s [RFEF] medical staff decide to withdraw the 27-year-old from La Roja squad. It’s claimed they want to ‘avoid any risk of injury’ for the centre-back.
This quite seems more of a precautionary measure than a serious setback for the former Villarreal star.
Spain manager Luis de la Fuente had left Torres out of the squad for Euro 2024. He called him up for the last two international breaks, but the Villans man didn’t make an appearance for the national team.
The latest fitness concern will force Torres to miss Spain’s UEFA Nations League clash against Denmark and Switzerland.
Torres has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Unai Emery’s side this season.
