Aston Villa star Tielemans 'magic' stuns Guardiola and Man City: 'Oh man alive'

Youri Tielemans left Ally McCoist in disbelief for the part he played in the opening goal for Aston Villa as he piled more pressure on Pep Guardiola and Man City at Villa Park.
The Premier League champions very nearly went behind inside the opening two minutes of the game when Stefan Ortega was forced to produce a brilliant double save, denying Jhon Duran and Pau Torres.
However, the hosts would take the lead in Saturday’s (21 December) clash, when Tielemans excellent through ball played in Morgan Rogers, who then played it across goal to give Duran a simple finish.
It was though the pass from the Belgian to split the Man City defence that left McCoist raving more than anything.
Speaking on co-commentary live on TNT Sports (12:47pm) about Tielemans’ involvement, the former Rangers striker said: “What about this ball from Tielemans, watch this, oh man alive that is magic. What a pass it is. That is one of the goals of the day, right now, before the 3 o’clocks have started.”
Goals from Duran and Morgan Rogers gave Villa the 2-1 win despite a late Phil Foden consolation.
Tielemans excels as problems mount for Guardiola and Man City
Football Insider Opinion
This was far from the only time in this game that Tielemans would make life hard for the visitors at Villa Park.
The Belgian international was outstanding in the centre of the park, putting the pressure on Man City in those areas, and creating plenty more chances with his forward passing.
With his side having won just once in their previous 11 games coming into this one, such an opposition performance will not have been what Guardiola wanted to see.
Amid the previously unthinkable scrutiny he is coming under, the Spaniard will be absolutely desperate to see results turn back in his favour.
Tielemans’ performance against Man City here though most certainly did not make it easy for him to make that change.
A performance such as this against them from a midfielder may well have added to the frustration for the Premier League champions when they do not have Rodri available to dominate in the centre of the park.
In other news, Man City look set to miss out on the signing of a Serie A midfielder.
