"Be a champion and win titles" – Player makes it clear why rejecting Wolves was out of sporting ambition

New Benfica midfielder Manu Silva has made it clear he rejected Wolverhampton Wanderers, so he could chase titles instead.
O Jogo cover comments from Manu Silva today after he signed from Vitoria Guimarães on a five and a half year deal this week.
The 23-year-old is joining the Portuguese giants in a €12m deal, with €2m bonuses and 20% of a future sale for his former club.
Benfica have moved 'lightning fast' to secure his signature, wrapping it up on Monday after Wolves also had an offer accepted.
He also had an agreement to head to Molineux this month and boost Vitor Pereira's squad as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Wolves have already been busy boosting Pereira's options and continue to scour the market for options. The situation around Mario Lemina, who won't play while the transfer window is open, means a defensive midfielder has been added to their list of desires.
That led them to targeting Manu Silva. Ultimately, though, he chose Benfica. And that, according to the midfielder himself, is because he wanted to chase titles.
"It's an important step in my career; one I've been looking forward to for a long time. I felt it was the right time and that I was ready to take on a challenge of this magnitude," he said.
"I have many goals and dreams to fulfil, the biggest one is to be champion and win titles with Benfica. I see myself a lot in this mentality, and I will work hard to achieve these goals."
