Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Newcastle United are just a few of the clubs that have been linked with Desire Doue this summer.
In recent days, there have been reports claiming Spurs and the Gunners remained keen on the Rennes ace, while TBR Football sources revealed in May that Villa, Man United and Newcastle are also on the case.
All five teams have reason to strengthen their ranks considerably this summer, as they all have big goals for next season.
Tottenham will be eager to get back into the Champions League after just falling short last term, while Arsenal will be desperate to get their hands on the Premier League title.
Villa will want to kick on in the league and impress on their return to the Champions League, Man United will be keen on doing better in the top flight, and Newcastle will want to return to European competition.
Doue, one of the brightest talents in Ligue 1, looks set to depart Rennes this summer and join one of the European elites.
Now, Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has shared an update involving the 19-year-old midfielder.
Desire Doue favouring move to Bayern Munich
The reporter claims that, as things currently stand, Doue is leaning towards a move to Bayern Munich ahead of a switch to Paris Saint-Germain.
Doue’s priority is Bayern, who are taking their time over a potential deal as they need to move players on first, but an agreement has been reached with the player.
The teenager has been convinced by Max Eberl, Christoph Freund, and Vincent Kompany to join the Bundesliga side, who are willing to pay up to £51million for the player.
However, Plettenberg reiterated that it’s not a done deal yet.
Premier League sides likely to miss out on Doue
Doue is one of the most highly rated youngsters in Europe and, as such, he would be a real statement signing for any club, Premier League or otherwise.
However, it looks as though the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal, Villa, Manchester United and Newcastle are running out of time to make a move.
The race is still open but, barring a dramatic late twist, it looks as though Doue is Bayern-bound. That said, it’s football, and anything can happen.
