Being second best to Celtic doesn't matter, as the Belgians want a Belgian. Clement's escape route from Ibrox could be much easier than both parties i

Well, it seems that Philippe Clement may be handed an escape route from his Ibrox hell which will be much easier than he imagined.
For both parties.
The Ibrox club are fully aware that the cost of letting Clement go is not currently within their remit.
So, if the Belgian FA were willing to pay them compensation to make him manager of the Belgian national side, then it really is a win/win for all parties.
Late yesterday evening, it emerged in the Record that Clement as an early frontrunner for the job.
This is amid mounting pressure on current Belgian manager, Domenico Tedesco, in the wake of a shock defeat to Israel in the Nations League.
It appears that being second best to Celtic and playing a style of football that is awful to watch, is enough to make you an early frontrunner to manage the 6th best nation on world football.
Who knew?
Belgium’s interest in Clement will come as music to the ears of the Ibrox faithful.
They’ve been crying out for Clement to leave, and see him as a busted flush already.
The media have been looking at replacements already.
And with news emerging from Saudi Arabia that Steven Gerrard is under mounting pressure at Al-Ettifaq, there’s no doubting they will be readying the welcome mat at Ibrox if he loses his job.
Gerrard is apparently defiant, and will fight to keep his job.
But if things continue the way they are, he may not have a choice in the matter.
A few weeks ago, I wrote an article asking if Gerrard and Ibrox were on an inevitable collision course?
It’s beginning to look more and more likely that this could come to pass.
For Celtic fans, this would be a dream come true.
Since Gerrard left Ibrox, we’ve been told time and time again how he would have beaten Ange Postecoglou to the title in 2022.
Even as recently as yesterday, we had Conor Goldson boasting how he would have done it.
It’s beginning to seem more and more likely that it’s written in the stars for Gerrard to return to Ibrox.
All of the klanbase seem to think he’s their messiah.
The only one who can turn things around for them.
As Gerrard’s managerial prospects continue to fade, it may be the only option left to him.
As a Celtic fan, I say bring it on.
Please let it happen.
Then we’ll finally get to see the real Gerrard.
And in doing so, we’ll be able to put the Covid title myth to bed.
Proving categorically that Gerrard was not the genius the likes of Goldson makes him out to be.
Let’s hope the Belgian FA convince Clement to take the job.
Then it’ll be very interesting to see what happens at Ibrox…
