'Biggest problem': Jamie O'Hara thinks Tottenham will get 'stuck' with one manager if Ange Postecoglou is sacked

Tottenham Hotspur’s disastrous run in the Premier League is not stopping, and Ange Postecoglou is coming under a lot of pressure.
Spurs have just one win in their last 10 games in the league – that came against Southampton, who are 20th in the table.
Tottenham are now just five places above the Saints, and although a relegation battle isn’t something to be worried about just yet, this is not a great look at all for Spurs.
Postecoglou has to change something. If he doesn’t, it is very likely that he will be shown the door.
Jamie O’Hara’s theory on why Daniel Levy has not sacked Ange Postecoglou yet
If you ignore everything else and just look at Tottenham’s form in the Premier League, Postecoglou deserves to be sacked.
The likes of Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Nuno Espirito Santo were all shown the door for much less, which makes you wonder why Levy has not made the tough call yet.
Tottenham fan and pundit Jamie O’Hara has a theory.
The 38-year-old thinks Levy is too ’embarrassed’ to sack Postecoglou right now because he knows there’s only one manager who will be ready to replace him until the end of the season – Ryan Mason.
O’Hara said on talkSPORT: “The biggest problem we’ve got is that Daniel Levy is too embarrassed to sack him.
“Because if we do sack him, Ryan Mason gets put in charge because no manager in the Premier League and no manager in Europe is going to want to take the job now until the end of the season. So we would be stuck with Ryan Mason.
“He’s got egg on his face, Daniel Levy, because he’s got to stick with him because no one else wants the job right now.”
Ryan Mason’s record as Tottenham’s caretaker manager
Mason has had two spells as Tottenham’s caretaker manager.
The 33-year-old was first handed the responsibility when Jose Mourinho was sacked in April 2021. Then, Mason got the job again after Cristian Stellini was shown the door two years later.
Games | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goals scored | Goals conceded | Win percentage | |
Ryan Mason in 2021 | 7 | 4 | 0 | 3 | 14 | 9 | 57.14 |
Ryan Mason in 2023 | 6 | 2 | 1 | 3 | 12 | 12 | 33.33 |
Tottenham’s next three games outside the Europa League are against Leicester City and Brentford in the Premier League and Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
If results don’t improve by then, we think Levy will sack Postecoglou.
Mason could get temporary charge of Spurs for the third time then, which would not be ideal at all, especially after how bad things were last time out.
