Blackburn's win over Queens Park Rangers has seen them have the best start to a season since their 1995 Premier League title win.

It's been just over 29 years since the Lancashire side won the top flight under Kenny Dalglish for the first since 1914, with Alan Shearer and Tim Sherwood starring for Rovers at the time.

They started that famous season with a run of seven games unbeaten, including four home wins.

And if you believe in good omens, Rovers have got themselves one.

Under John Eustace, Rovers have started the season in almost exactly the same way.

A 2-0 home victory over QPR on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Lewis Trabid and Danny Batth, extended their unbeaten run from the start of the campaign to seven games.

The only difference from 1994/95 is the title winning side had won an extra game away from home, whilst the current crop having an extra draw instead.

But given Rovers have seen two 30 year old records tumble, things are looking up at Ewood Park.

That's despite them playing without last season's Championship golden boot winner, Sammie Szmodics.

The former Peterborough player moved to Premier League Ipswich in the summer transfer window after bagging 27 goals for Blackburn in the league last term.

Blackburn’s Premier League title win saw them edge Manchester United by one point.

Blackburn haven't been in the top flight since 2012 when they were relegated in 19th place.

They dropped down as far as the third tier, but were promoted at the first time of asking in 2018.

Last term, Rovers flirted with relegation, but ended the season in 19th, three points off the drop.

Now, Blackburn sit third in the league, one point off leaders Sunderland and second place West Brom.
