Borussia Dortmund now appoint 'world class' manager Tottenham had as potential Ange Postecoglou replacement

Daniel Levy already seems to be making some light plans for the future as Ange Postecoglou struggles at Tottenham.
Spurs are currently sat 15th in the Premier League under the Australian after a run of six defeats in the last seven league outings.
In fairness to Ange Postecoglou – who has grown tetchier with each passing week based on his interviews and press conferences – he has been robbed of several key men.

Tottenham have been without most of their usual backline in Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario, while James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson are also absent in addition to others.
Despite this very valid excuse for Postecoglou, Daniel Levy is still exploring potential replacements.
TBR Football understand Tottenham admire Thomas Frank – as well as Kieran McKenna, Andoni Iraola and Marco Silva.
Now – however – another manager Spurs admire in Niko Kovac has joined Borussia Dortmund.
Niko Kovac no longer an option for Tottenham
Borussia Dortmund have now announced the 53-year-old as a replacement for Nuri Sahin.

Borussia Dortmund has appointed Niko Kovač as their new head coach. The 53-year-old, born in Berlin, has signed a contract with BVB until June 30, 2026, and will officially take charge next Sunday after the club's Bundesliga match against Heidenheim. pic.twitter.com/O6hPBoCxn2
It comes after the Daily Mail claimed that Tottenham admire Kovac amid doubts over Postecoglou – after the German’s impressive stints at Eintracht Frankfurt and Monaco.
Postecoglou could well turn the bleak situation around in N17 and save his job, with the Daily Mail adding that he will be given until the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool to improve results before serious questions start to be asked.
However – whatever happens at Spurs – Kovac, who has been called a world class coach on the Bundesliga’s official website, is no longer an option for Levy.
Paulo Fonseca also off the table for Spurs
Levy also seems to like Paulo Fonseca – having agreed terms with the Portuguese tactician back in 2021 until Fabio Paratici pushed for Nuno Espirito Santo instead.
However, Lyon have now agreed to hire the 51-year-old as a replacement for Pierre Sage, meaning another potential Postecoglou replacement is off the table for Tottenham as well as Kovac.
