Aston Villa are making moves to secure the future of a key player in the form of midfielder Boubacar Kamara.
The French international has developed into one of the best performers for the Midlands club in recent times after joining from Marseille back in the summer of 2022.
Often though that will come with its own concerns around players who are as important as Kamara, who has just over two years remaining on his contract at Villa Park.
Recent reports suggested that Aston Villa had yet to open talks with Kamara over a new contract, although it seems they have now taken action to change that.
Aston Villa close in on Boubacar Kamara contract agreement
According to the latest update from the Telegraph, the Midlands club have now opened talks with Kamara over a new contract.
Crucially, there is reportedly now an expectation that those discussions will lead to the 25-year-old signing a new deal to commit his future to Aston Villa.
Boubacar Kamara in 2024/25 | Total (as per SofaScore) |
Appearances | 17 |
Pass Success Rate | 90% |
Tackles per Game | 2.4 |
Clearances per Game | 2.1 |
Balls Recovered per Game | 3.5 |
Indeed, Unai Emery‘s side are apparently confident they will secure a new deal for Kamara despite the fact he is attracting attention from other sides across the continent.
With Aston Villa having recently faced concerns over PSR issues, reaching an agreement over a new deal with the midfielder in spite of that would be a major boost for the club.

Football Insider Verdict
It feels important for those at Villa Park that these talks with the midfielder do reach a positive resolution in the near future.
It was a major blow for Aston Villa when they lost Kamara to injury earlier this season, so they will not want to lose him long-term if they are forced into a sale.
With the Frenchman becoming so important to the club, it would therefore be a major show of intent to keep him while so many others are keen on him.
That will show Unai Emery he is being backed and convince the Spaniard to stay and continue the excellent work he is doing in the Villa Park dugout.
It could potentially also help attract new signings to Aston Villa, all of which will keep the club moving in the right direction.
Of course, given their progress to the quarter finals of the Champions League and FA Cup highlights the promising situation the club are in, it makes sense that Kamara will want to stay there as well.
