Arsenal head to the south coast on Saturday evening looking to extend their four-match match winning streak, which has seen them close the gap between themselves and the top of the Premier League table to just a solitary point.

Mikel Arteta’s side are one of just two Premier League teams still unbeaten in all competitions across the season, as they bid to be crowned champions of England for the first time in 21 years.

The Gunners’ last four games have all been played at home, and will be playing on the road this weekend for the first time in just shy of a month, and wary that they dropped points in both of their last two matches away from home.

Admittedly their opponents on each occasion was the four-time defending Premier League champions Manchester City and the current Europa League champions Atalanta, both much stronger teams on paper than the Bournemouth side they face on Saturday.

With both Liverpool and Manchester not playing until Sunday, the north London side have the chance to be top of the Premier League table overnight should they take all three points back to the capital from the Dorset coast.

Bournemouth have had an inconsistent start to the new season, currently sat 13th in the table ahead of the weekend’s action and having lost three of their last four matches but two of those defeats have come against Liverpool and Chelsea.

What will worry Andoni Iraola about his side is their defeat to newly promoted Leicester just before the international break, the only game any of the three newly promoted sides have won since the start of the new campaign.

The Cherries will look forward to playing back in front of their home fans though, having lost just one of their three matches at the Vitality Stadium this season, and their fans will be sure to make it a hostile atmosphere for the visit of the last two season’s Premier League runners up.

Recent history doesn’t bode well for the Cherries having lost each of their last five matches against Arsenal, in which they’ve conceded 14 goals in their last four league meetings.

Arteta has never tasted defeat against the Cherries in the six matches he’s managed agains them, coming out on top on five of those occasions, and has won on both previous managerial encounters with fellow countryman Iraola.
