In December, Christian Nørgaard said he’s open to signing a new contract at Brentford but also kept the door open for a transfer.

The Denmark international has less than four months left on his contract and has been a regular for the Bees this season.

Fast forward to March and Tipsbladet state the 31-year-old has committed his long-term future to Brentford.

They report the defensive midfielder has extended his contract with the Premier League club until 2027.

Brentford took the Dane from Fiorentina in 2019, when they were in the Championship. He has been a key figure in Thomas Frank’s starting lineup in the Premier League and has been their captain since last season.

Nørgaard’s contract situation has seen clubs bigger than Brentford show interest in him and he could have considered offers for a free transfer in the summer window.

Instead, the former Brøndby man has decided to continue at Brentford by signing a two-year extension. With this, Tipsbladet state he once again ‘confirms his loyalty’ to the London club.

The player had earlier stated he wants to finish his career at Brøndby. With the contract renewal, the Danish club have to wait longer for his return.
