Guimaraes has once again been instrumental for Newcastle this season, and is as a fan favourite in Tyneside. Despite currently being with the Brazil squad, there's no doubt he is still revelling in the Magpies' historic Carabao Cup triumph on 16 March—their first major trophy in 70 years.

After the victory, Guimaraes shared an emotional message with Newcastle supporters, a gesture that only strengthens his connection to the club's legacy. He has now joined up with Brazil, and started in their 2-1 victory over Colombia.

Though, his performances have put clubs on notice, with Arsenal showing interest in Guimaraes, as they are keen to strengthen their midfield despite links to Martin Zubimendi.

"Thank you, Brasilia, for your support. It sure made a difference for us. We follow for more. Sad to be out of the next game, but for sure I will be a fan of our national team" (translated from Portuguese).

The Newcastle midfielder will miss Brazil's crucial clash with Argentina after picking up a yellow card, which resulted in a suspension due to accumulated bookings.

Meanwhile, speculation over his future continues to swirl. According to Football Insider, Arsenal already have a deal in principle for Zubimendi, and the Gunners are highly unlikely to pursue both Guimaraes and the Real Sociedad midfielder.

The Brazilian has attracted long-term interest from Europe's elite, with Manchester City keeping tabs on Guimaraes after a string of impressive performances in the Premier League.
