Joe Willock took to social media for more Carabao Cup celebrations after Newcastle United defeated Liverpool in the final.
Eddie Howe continued his Newcastle project by helping the club to lift its first domestic trophy in 70 years, with goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak securing a 2-1 win at Wembley Stadium on 16 March.
Having only made nine Premier League starts this season, Willock replaced Harvey Barnes for the final nine minutes of the clash but still celebrated the victory just as much as his teammates.
The majority of neutral supporters expected Mohamed Salah and Arne Slot’s Liverpool side to claim victory but the Magpies held out despite a late goal from Federico Chiesa in an attempt to spark a late comeback.

Taking to Instagram [18 March], Willock simply wrote: “Blessed,” with a black heart. His post, alongside the Carabao Cup trophy, was liked by Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Man City star Phil Foden.
Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, as well as teammates Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento, liked the post as the Magpies continued their post-Liverpool celebrations.
Eddie Howe just at the beginning of Newcastle United journey
Football Insider verdict
There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Howe potentially becoming Thomas Tuchel’s successor as England boss, but it would be incredibly difficult to prize him away from St James’ Park.
Newcastle have gone from battling relegation to Champions League competitors and lifting silverware all within three years of Howe being appointed as the manager.
Manager | Games | Won | Draw | Lost | Win % |
Eddie Howe | 163 | 82 | 36 | 45 | 50.3 |
His appointment, of course, was greeted with a lot of uncertainty, having parted ways with Bournemouth just over a year before, but fans could not imagine anyone else at the helm now.
Those same supporters would be absolutely heartbroken if he were to trade the Magpies for the Three Lions anytime soon, especially as he continues a long and winding journey with the club.
Howe is likely have ambitions of becoming England head coach one day, but with Tuchel in charge for the next 18 months, those thoughts will be far and away from St James’ Park right now.
