Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka's potential move to Borussia Dortmund is now "off the table," according to Patrick Berger.

The 21-year-old had been linked with a transfer from Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window, with Dortmund believed to be exploring a deal for the Englishman.

However, Sky Sports Germany reporter Berger shared on X that Chukwuemeka was considered “Nuri Sahin’s preferred number eight”. With Sahin now sacked (22 January), the proposed move has been shelved.

Dortmund also expressed interest in Renato Veiga, but he suggested the high transfer fee demanded by the Blues has made that deal "currently out" as well.
