Carney Chukwuemeka sends message to Ben Chilwell after transfer confession

Chelsea youngster Carney Chukwuemeka has sent a message to Ben Chilwell after Enzo Maresca suggested the two are “looking to leave” in January.
Chukwuemeka, 21, and Chilwell, 28, were members of Chelsea’s ‘bomb squad’ throughout the summer transfer window but ultimately failed to secure moves away from the club.
Maresca reiterated his stance on the future of both players during his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s game against Everton on Sunday (December 22), suggesting they should seek moves elsewhere for regular playing time.
The Chelsea boss said: “There are players that unfortunately didn’t play a lot with us in all the competitions like (Ben) Chilwell, like Carney (Chukwuemeka).
“Probably they are the first [to say] that they want to leave because they train every day, because they want to play games and if they don’t play games probably they are thinking of leaving.
“Each player is a bit different situation, so we’re going to see if some of them are coming and knocking on the door to say ‘I want to leave’ or something like that. We will try to find a solution.”

Chukwuemeka has started just one of his five games across all competitions, failing to make a single goal contribution in his 130 minutes of action.
Chilwell has found it even harder to get minutes, with his only appearance coming in Chelsea’s 5-0 League Cup win over Barrow, coming on at half-time to see the game out.
The young midfielder took to Instagram to wish Chilwell many happy returns, simply saying: “Happy birthday my brother.”
Maresca has done a remarkable job at Chelsea since joining in the summer, guiding them to second with 34 points from their 16 league games.
Chelsea travel to face Sean Dyche’s struggling Everton side on Sunday (December 22) knowing that a win could take them top of the league, with Liverpool set to play Tottenham in the late kick-off.
