Celtic have left pundit Tam McManus in awe after news about their January transfer business.

Kyogo Furuhashi is set to join French club Rennes in a deal worth £10million [Sky Sports], and the Bhoys have already secured his replacement in the form of former player Jota.

McManus took to X to share his delight about the news, pointing out that the Glaswegian side had sold the Portuguese winger 18 months before for £25million, and were getting him back for just £8million this January.

Furuhashi was a talismanic figure at Celtic Park and had scored 86 goals in 167 games for the Hoops, but the pundit pointed out the Japanese international is 30-years-old, and they are set to make a £6million profit on the striker.

The pundit also furthered his point by highlighting the sales of Mikey Johnson and Bosun Lawal for around £5million were mind-blowing, as shown in his choice of emoji.

All of these deals led to the pundit posing the simple question, “Is there a better run club anywhere than Celtic?”

Celtic relying on Jota to find his old form to see success this season

Football Insider Verdict

The news that Celtic were reuniting with one of their old flames has been exciting for fans of the club.

Through two seasons with the club, the former Benfica man lit up the hallowed ground of Celtic Park and endeared himself to the fans so much, he was even the focus of a hit song [Glasgow Times].

Jota scored 28 goals, and registered 25 assists, in 85 games for Celtic, before being one of the first players to move to Saudi Arabia in the Summer of 2023.

Since leaving Celtic, Jota has struggled to even find minutes at his clubs, let alone find form.

The Portuguese winger started brightly for Al-Ittihad, but was left unregistered for the second-half of the season due to the club’s desires to register other foreign players they had signed.

After leaving Saudi Arabia, Jota made the move to France to sign for Rennes, and it has been a similar story.

Through nine Ligue 1 appearances, he has scored once and quickly fallen out of manager, Jorge Sampaoli’s plans.

A return to Celtic feels right, many felt he never should have left, but Jota joins in a period where Celtic look set to be jousting with Europe’s elites in the Champions League knockout rounds, and there will be little time for him to find his feet.

In other news, Keith Wyness has shared his views on the “statement” expansion of Celtic Park.
