Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has taken to social media to send a message to Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi after his loan at the club was cut short.

The West London club exercised the right to recall Chalobah, 25, from Crystal Palace just six months into his season-long loan at the club.

Chalobah was recalled after both Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile picked up serious muscle injuries, with Fofana unlikely to feature again this season.

Guehi, 24, has also been linked with a move back to his boyhood club, but Palace have no intention of letting their star defender leave on the cheap.

Football Insider revealed (January 16) that Palace will stand firm with their £75million valuation that saw Newcastle priced out of a deal in the summer transfer window.

The England international has just 18 months left on his contract at Palace, and the club would prefer to earn a fee rather than let him walk away for free at the end of next season.

Chalobah was key for Palace in his six months at the club, starting all 14 of his appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals, and providing zero assists in his 1243 minutes of action.

Unsurprisingly, losing Guehi could prove disastrous for Palace, with the defender starting all 25 of his games, popping up with three goals, and providing one assist in his 2250 minutes on the field.

Guehi scored Palace’s second goal in their 2-0 Premier League win over Leicester City on Wednesday (January 15), helping them move up to 14th.

He took to Instagram after the crucial win over fellow relegation fighters Leicester, simply saying: “Away W,” to which Chalobah promptly responded: “Skip.”

Winless in their last five Premier League games, including a 1-1 draw with Palace, Chelsea have fallen out of the Champions League qualification spots after being as high as second before Christmas.

Maresca's side will host relegation-threatened Wolves in their next league fixture on Monday (January 20) as they seek to turn their form around.
