Chelsea loanee Jadon Sancho could return to Manchester United at the end of this season after a clause has emerged.

The England international joined the London giants on loan last summer, with a £25million obligation to buy included in the deal.

However, The Athletic reported on 23 March Chelsea can pay a £5million fee to cancel the deal if they wish.

Everton's former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – admitted he's never heard of a break clause being included in a transfer deal.

Football Insider revealed on 19 March Man United are unlikely to be open to Sancho returning at the end of this season.

Sources say Chelsea are certain to sign Sancho if they qualify for next season's Champions League, with the 24-year-old winger registering two goals and six assists in 28 appearances this season.

Enzo Maresca's side currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, one point above fifth-place Manchester City after 29 matches.

Chelsea to agree permanent Jadon Sancho deal

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Chelsea are likely to sign Sancho permanently after he's featured heavily this season.

He told Football Insider's Inside Track podcast: "I haven’t heard of a break clause about getting away from signing a player.

"I think it was £25million to sign him and £5million to break that £25million obligation.

"Certainly, it’s a new twist on things.

"I do think Chelsea are going to go ahead and sign him, though.

"I think that’s what they will do.

"From what I saw, Maresca seemed quite happy with him.

"He’s a young kid and I think if they get his head right, I think he can be a player."

Raheem Sterling wants to agree permanent Chelsea exit

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football InsiderRaheem Sterling wants to join another Premier League club as he is "certain" to leave Stamford Bridge.

However, there is currently a lack of interest from top-flight sides following his disappointing loan spell at Arsenal.

Arsenal are concerned about Sterling's performances, with the 30-year-old registering just one goal and four assists in 23 appearances this season.
