Rasmus Hojlund was overjoyed in his message to Man United fans after netting in the 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

With zero goals in his last 13 Premier League appearances, the striker’s release of emotion was evident at the King Power Stadium on 16 March, scoring the opener to sink Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side.

Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes secured the win in the second half, stretching their unbeaten across all competitions to seven matches.

Hojlund has been under immense pressure from Man United fans to start performing, having netted just twice in 23 games before the visit to Leicester, especially after costing £72million in 2023 [BBC Sport].

The injured Man United star Amad commented with two heart emojis while Chelsea legend Michael Essien liked the post following his goal against the Foxes.

Football Insider verdict

Ruben Amorim has faced criticism from Man United supporters ever since his arrival from Sporting CP, with the Red Devils falling to 13th in the Premier League table.

His side were also knocked out of the EFL Cup by Tottenham, and the FA Cup by Fulham, and now face a tough test against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals in their next challenge.

United look to have found some consistency on the pitch, with their last defeat coming against Spurs eight matches ago, and the manager will be desperate for his strikers to remain in form.

Ruben Amorim could lift the Europa League title this season.

Amad’s long-term injury has seen Fernandes become the club’s leading goalscorer this season, but Marcus Rashford, who is loving life at Aston Villa, is still fifth in the fifth in the list.

Zirkzee only has six goals to his name across all competitions, but with one of those helping United to overcome Real Sociedad, both of Amorim’s under-performing strikers look to be building some confidence.
