Chelsea news: Stefan Borson taken aback by 'completely bizarre' Abramovich update

Chelsea have faced various hurdles on and off the pitch since BlueCo secured its takeover at Stamford Bridge in May 2022.
Roman Abramovich sold the London giants after he was sanctioned by the UK government following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The £2.5billion raised from the sale is still frozen in the UK despite being pledged to causes linked to the Ukraine war.
The BBC reported on 8 March Abramovich's lawyers are insisting the funds should be used for all victims of the war, while the government is keen for the money to go to humanitarian efforts inside Ukraine only.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it's "completely bizarre" the situation is yet to be resolved almost three years on from the takeover deal being concluded.
Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have faced criticism for their running of the club since the takeover, with Chelsea yet to reach the heights they experienced under Abramovich's ownership.
Enzo Maresca's side currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, one point above Manchester City after 29 matches.
Chelsea takeover money generating significant interest
Borson revealed the money from the Chelsea takeover should be generating a large amount of interest if it's sat in the bank.
He told Football Insider: "It feels overly complicated.
"How hard can it be to release £2.5billion to the causes that it was meant to go to?
“I don’t have the detail about what the delay is and whether there’s something quite specific here or whether it’s just the quite typical inability to execute what should be relatively straightforward government or quasi government type distributions.
"I can’t understand why it’s not happened. It’s just completely bizarre. Shouldn't it just happen? How hard can it be?
"It’s been nearly three years since the deal. It’s a lot of money.
"It should be generating hundreds of millions of pounds of interest even if it’s just sat in the bank. It's very strange."
Chelsea in pole position to agree Jobe Bellingham deal
Football Insider revealed on 11 March Chelsea are in pole position to sign Jobe Bellingham in the summer transfer window.
Sunderland will be forced to consider big-money offers for the 19-year-old if they fail to secure promotion to the Premier League this season, with Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham and Crystal Palace also interested in signing him.
