Chelsea now agree deal to sign £7.6m player after he is approached by Tottenham - journalist

Chelsea have now agreed to sign a player who was recently the subject of an approach from Tottenham.

Spurs pipped the Blues to fifth place in the Premier League last season and – consequently – a spot in the UEFA Europa League, something Chelsea thought they had secured by finishing sixth, only for Manchester United’s FA Cup win to plunge them into the UEFA Conference League instead.

Despite that, Chelsea are still set to beat Tottenham to a transfer target…

Chelsea set to sign Guela Doue despite Tottenham approach

Chelsea are now close to signing Guela Doue from Rennes.

Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Chelsea have agreed a €9m (£7.6m) deal with the Ligue 1 side, and the Ivory Coast international is set to be immediately loaned out to Strasbourg.

It comes after TBR Football exclusively revealed that Tottenham had approached Rennes to ask about Doue – as well as his brother Desire Doue.

There are even doubts about Tottenham’s chances of signing the Rennes No.33 in response to missing out on his 21-year-old brother to Chelsea.

Spurs may also struggle to sign Desire Doue

As aforesaid, Spurs could end up missing out on both brothers.

PSG are bidding to sign Doue after his rise to prominence in Ligue 1 and also within the France U21 setup.

Bayern Munich are also keen to buy Doue as Vincent Kompany looks to add to the signing of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

Speaking on The Debrief, Ben Jacobs recently claimed that Tottenham are currently trying to find out whether the brother of Guela Doue actually wants to join them, before those in N17 decide to make an official bid as well.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation. One Doue brother has slipped through the net for Spurs, although Tottenham still have a chance to sign his 19-year-old sibling this summer.
