Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson was among those to react after Aston Villa star Leon Bailey took to social media to post a message to fans.

Although Unai Emery‘s side are enjoying another season of positive progress, reaching the quarter finals of the Champions League and FA Cup, things have not always worked out for the 27-year-old.

Bailey has produced some below par performances for Aston Villa in recent weeks, despite the all-round success of his side.

There are still just over two years remaining on the winger’s contract at Villa Park, securing his future there until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Despite that, it has been claimed that Aston Villa could accept an offer for Bailey in the summer transfer window.

Leon Bailey enjoys international respite

Amid that uncertainty at club level, the recent international break has provided a welcome upturn in fortunes for Bailey.

The Aston Villa winger scored as Jamaica drew 1-1 with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the first leg of their Gold Cup qualifier on Friday (21 March).

He then played the full 90 minutes in a 3-0 win for his country in the second leg of that tie on Wednesday (26 March) to confirm qualification for the tournament, which is due to be held in June.

Taking to Instagram to reflect on that success in reaching the tournament, Bailey wrote: “Thanks for the love my team. See you all in June.”

In response, Chelsea striker Jackson, who is closing in on a return from injury and the winger’s Aston Villa teammates Matty Cash, Ian Maatsen and Jacob Ramsey all liked that post.

Football Insider Verdict

Bailey is a player who certainly feels like something of an enigma when he is playing for his club in particular.

At times, he can do incredible things for Aston Villa that can help turn games in their favour at some crucial moments.

On other occasions though, he will often go missing in matches and fail to make the required impact when they need him to.

As Emery’s side continue to progress and look to turn themselves into genuine trophy contenders, you wonder if they can consider those sorts of contributions to be enough from any player.

If Bailey does not therefore find more consistency quickly, Aston Villa may well have to consider any offers that come in for him this summer.
