Chelsea may be planning to sell Jadon Sancho on immediately after signing him this summer with Borussia Dortmund interested in the winger.

The Blues have a decision to make in regards to the 25-year-old’s short-term future, after it emerged the obligation to move to Stamford Bridge permanently this summer, was not that obligatory.

Chelsea can pay a £5million fee to cancel Sancho’s permanent arrival this summer, or instead sign the winger for £25million.

Sancho started hot after his arrival at Chelsea, but the winger’s form has since tailed off, presenting the Blues with an interesting dilemma. Do they cancel the deal, or choose to keep the former Man City man for next season?

The answer may be that they choose to do neither, as explained by Alex Crook on talkSPORT, who dismissed United fears of the unwanted wide man ending up back at Old Trafford.

Chelsea could trigger Jadon Sancho buy-option then immediately sell to Borussia Dortmund

When speaking on the issue live on air, Crook indicated an alternative option may be on the cards of signing Sancho then immediately selling him on in the same window.

Sancho’s best football has been played in Germany and he seemed keen on a permanent return to the Signal Iduna Park in the summer, but no deal came to fruition.

Whilst not confirming that it would happen, Crook suggested Dortmund were interested in Sancho and it would allow Chelsea to avoid paying money to not sign the winger.

Crook said (12.39am, 28 March): "The interesting situation when it comes to Jadon Sancho is that it was dressed up as a loan deal, with an obligation to buy, provided Chelsea finished in the, I think, top 14 in the league, which clearly they will.

"But it's not really an obligation because there's a five million pound get out clause for Chelsea, where they can basically send him back to Manchester United.

"Now, the indications at the moment are, they're not going to do that and he will become a permanent Chelsea player.

"There's also some suggestion that he could become a permanent Chelsea player and then end up at Borussia Dortmund, of course, where he's played the best football of his career, they're interested in re-signing him."

Jadon Sancho still useful to Chelsea despite new summer arrivals

Football Insider Verdict

Whilst his form may have dipped, Enzo Maresca remains impressed by Sancho’s work ethic, both at the training ground and in matches.

An out-of-form winger who’s lacking confidence is a sad sight to witness, and the especially frustrating part about the ex-Dortmund winger’s struggles is we got to see him in-form to begin the season.

Chelsea and Sancho seemed a match made in footballing heaven, or something close at least, as the England international was playing in a comfortable system for the team he supports, and that resembles the one he thrived in at Dortmund.

However, despite his woes, the winger retains the backing of his manager, who clearly believes he can turn around his career in West London.

What’s more, with Kendry Paez, Estevao Willian and Geovany Quenda all arriving in the next two seasons, Sancho may stand to benefit from the arrival of some young talent which may provide the necessary motivation for him to keep his spot.

Competition for places means the 25-year-old would also benefit from having a dangerous alternative on the other flank may open channels for the England international to attack, as he did when Marco Reus or Julian Brandt where used on the right when they were together at Dortmund.
