Chelsea fans have urged the club to purchase a striker in the January transfer window after their recent Premier League result.

The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw on Tuesday (12 January) at Stamford Bridge in a game that had Enzo Maresca "on his knees" in despair after what he witnessed.

Chelsea originally led the game after a goal from Cole Palmer, but the Blues failed to capitalise on their pressure in the first half as they ultimately went 2-1 down until Reece James' 95th-minute equaliser.

Nicolas Jackson has a game to forget after missing three big chances in a game that saw him only hit the target with half of his six shots throughout the 90 minutes.

During his post-match press conference, Maresca reflected on the chances missed by both Jackson and his teammates.

He said, "[It was] Probably one of our best first halves of the season the way we were playing on the ball, off the ball, creating so many chances. We had around 50 shots, the first half has to finish with a different score, I think at least 2-0 was the one that we deserved.

"The feeling is a little bit shame, because when you are playing the way you play in the first-half that I think was really, really good, you have to be clinical."

Chelsea need to recruit a striker in January

The lack of clinical edge being called out by Maresca is something that Chelsea fans have highlighted to mean that the club needs to sign a striker this month to eradicate this issue.
