Chris Richards baffles, Maxence Lacroix stuns - Crystal Palace ratings v Bournemouth

19/04/2025 12:18
Chris Richards’ red card left Crystal Palace facing an uphill battle in their 0-0 draw with Bournemouth.
The first half was desperately lacking in quality as both sides seemed cautious of the attacking threat posed by the other.
The game came to life though, when Alex Scott avoided a second yellow card for a foul on the edge of the Cherries box, before Richards was sent off for a similar foul by referee Samuel Barrott.
However, Bournemouth failed to make their man advantage count, with the two teams spending the rest of the second half taking pot shots from distance, without creating any real chances of note.
Oliver Glasner watches 10-man Crystal Palace hold out for draw vs Bournemouth
Dean Henderson – 8
Henderson may replace Jordan Pickford in goal for England, but having conceded 10 goals in his last two Premier League games, the former United man will have been delighted to keep a clean sheet.
Chris Richards – 3
Sent off for an incredibly innocuous challenge, whilst the red card was undeserved, should have been smarter knowing he was already booked.
Maxence Lacroix – 9 – Player of the Match
Formidable performance. The long-legged Frenchman has been one of the standout performers for the Eagles this season, and stepped up when his side needed him.
Marc Guehi back to his best for Crystal Palace
Marc Guehi – 7
Guehi was sent off against Brighton, and the England international had a miserable game against Man City last time out, a much better performance from Guehi against Bournemouth.
Daniel Munoz – 5
Ineffective. The Colombian has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best offensive fullbacks this season, but was completely nullified by Milos Kerkez.
Adam Wharton (off for Kamada 76′) – 4
Struggling for form. Wharton is one of Palace’s most prized possessions, but the young Englishman has been poor in recent games, the match against the Eagles was no different.
Will Hughes – 6
Battler. Hughes offered little going forward for his side, but unlike Wharton, he stepped up to the challenge of winning the midfield battle, offering his backline the protection they needed.
Tyrick Mitchell – 8
A willing runner going forward, whilst also being diligent in his defensive duties. Antoine Semenyo was forced to switch wings due to Mitchell’s dogged defending.
Ismaila Sarr (off for Devenny 90′) – 5
Absent. The Senegalese international is one of the most exciting and electric players in Palace’s squad when on his day, but against Bournemouth, Sarr failed to get on the ball enough and had little impact.
Eberechi Eze subbed off at half-time for Crystal Palace
Eberechi Eze (off for Lerma 46′) – 4
Liverpool are keen on signing Eze this summer. The England international started slowly and never really got going, being substituted at half-time due to Richards’ red card.
Jean-Philippe Mateta (off for Nketiah 76′) – 6
Arsenal transfer target Mateta was brimming with confidence, dancing his way past Bournemouth defenders, but with Eze’s substitution came a loss of supply to the Frenchman, who cut a lonely figure up front in the second half.
Substitutes
Jefferson Lerma (on for Eze 46′) – 7
Brought on to once again play at centre-back, in spite of being more natural in the midfield, put in a good performance at centre-back.
Eddie Nketiah (on for Mateta 76′) – 5
Suffered with a lack of supply, much like Mateta did, a difficult cameo for the former Arsenal man.
Daichi Kamada (on for Wharton 76′) – 6
Put himself about well in his brief stint on the pitch, the Japanese international is still trying to find his feet in England.
Justin Devenny (on for Sarr 90′) – N/A
Was not on the pitch long enough to have an impact.
