Chris Wood has reacted to the latest Nottingham Forest announcement via social media, with Nuno Espirito Santo the subject.

The Reds have experienced an incredible 2024/25 campaign, currently sitting third in the Premier League table, with a chance of qualifying for the Champions League and also lifting the FA Cup.

While Wood is expected to be unavailable for Forest’s clash against Brighton on Saturday, 29 March, the injury he picked up on international duty does not look to be as serious as first thought.

That will be music to Espirito Santo’s ears, with his side still nine league matches away from being able to say they have secured a top-four finish, battling the likes of Chelsea and Man City for the achievement.

Nottingham Forest take important step towards Champions League football

In the month of March, Forest were the only team to win both league matches, with the international break putting a stop to proceedings, at least for club level.

That included a sensational 1-0 win over Man City, with Callum Hudson-Odoi smashing the only goal past Ederson and sending The City Ground into pandemonium, with the other being a 4-2 win over Ipswich.

Writing via Instagram [27 March], Forest’s official page said: Nuno has been nominated for Premier League Manager of the Month for March,” with a clapping emoji.

Wood, his star striker, showed his support for the manager by liking the post.

Football Insider verdict

Espirito Santo, who Forest are doing everything to tie down to a new deal, is rightly being praised for his achievements for this season so far, but the campaign is not yet over.

While the Reds are currently five points clear of fourth-place Chelsea and a further point above Man City, there is still plenty of time for twists and turns to occur at The City Ground.

Champions League qualification is a strong possibility at Forest.

Many supporters will be hoping their team can push for the FA Cup as well, with everyone loving a day out at Wembley Stadium, and that only adds more pressure and fatigue to each game.

Man United, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Chelsea all remain on the list of teams yet to play, and though Forest should have every bit of confidence of winning all of them, the Premier League is not always so simple.

Wherever Forest end up finishing, it is no surprise at all to see a new contract in the works for the manager, who has overcome poor spells with Tottenham and Al Ittihad to light up Nottingham.
