Club more to counteract Everton plan – Chess being played over transfer clause

Everton's apparent desire to dodge the clause in Charly Alcaraz's loan deal has led Flamengo to talk to other Premier League clubs about the midfielder.
That's according to Mundo Bola, who report that the Brazilian club are trying to drum up an auction for the Argentine.
Alcaraz joined Everton on loan in the January transfer window and that deal includes an obligation for them to buy if he plays at least 45 minutes in eight games. He does not have to be a starter in those games.
It's been suggested since his arrival that Everton may look to avoid this clause, valued at around valued at around £15m plus bonuses, and negotiate for a lower fee once the summer comes around.
That has been aided by the fact that Alcaraz has so far only managed 45 minutes for Everton twice since his arrival in games against Crystal Palace and Brentford. He's been a substitute but played under 45 minutes in every other game.
Reports in Brazil have stated that Everton do intend to buy him regardless, having been impressed since day one, but it seems Flamengo are not impressed.
Instead, they have acknowledged what the Toffees have been doing and are already talking to other Premier League clubs about a potential deal. It seems that if Everton don't end up being obligated to buy Alcaraz they intend to create an auction and there are interest parties to make that happen.
Perhaps, though, this is simply a tactic to put the pressure on Everton and convince them to use Alcaraz between now and the end of the season. He needs to play 45 minutes in six of their last ten games for the purchase option to become mandatory.
It all depends on whether Everton want to take the risk and end up potentially losing Alcaraz for the sake of saving money in the summer. Either way, it seems Flamengo intend to ensure they get a sale somehow.
