Manchester United are yet to make a new signing this winter.

Ruben Amorim has actually seen his squad become weaker at Old Trafford this month after Antony was allowed to leave for Real Betis on a loan deal.

Of course, the Brazil international has been a huge failure at Manchester United – but his departure still means the Red Devils are weaker in terms of squad depth.

A lift is certainly needed, with Manchester United sitting 13th in the Premier League – just ten points above the relegation zone – at the time of writing.

Now – however – a positive transfer development has seemingly occurred, as Lecce find an apparent replacement for Patrick Dorgu.

Lecce set to sign Danilo Veiga – who plays in the same position as Patrick Dorgu

TBR Football understand Manchester United have verbally agreed terms with Dorgu as we approach the February 3rd transfer deadline.

However, a fee is yet to be agreed with Lecce, who are believed to want £33.7m for the Dane.

The Denmark international is regarded as a left-sided wing-back by trade, making ten appearances on that flank so far this season, but has typically been used on the right this season, playing 12 games on that side.

Now – according to Fabrizio Romano – Lecce are close to signing Danilo Veiga, who has played exclusively as a right wing-back for Estrela Amadora this season, strongly hinting that he could replace Dorgu.

The reliable Italian journalist wrote: “Lecce are set to sign Danilo Veiga from Estrela Amadora as new fullback. Exclusive story, confirmed.”

Manchester United have backup options

If the Red Devils still cannot agree a fee with Lecce before the transfer window closes, enquiries have already been made for two backup options.

Manchester United have asked about Tyrick Mitchell of Crystal Palace as talks with Lecce continue over Dorgu, while the Red Devils have also enquired about Wolves No.3 Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Therefore, Manchester United are certainly not putting all of their eggs into one basket.
