Milos Kerkez has told friends he wants to leave Bournemouth to join Liverpool this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds have been in contact with the 21-year-old’s representatives in recent weeks to kickstart the initial stages of a summer deal.

Kerkez has a close relationship with Hungary teammate Dominik Szoboszlai and is said to have been “blown away” by the interest from Liverpool.

Arne Slot has identified Kerkez as his top target at left-back, while Liverpool are also considering Fulham star Antonee Robinson as a potential alternative.

The Bournemouth star has now decided that he “100% in his mind wants to join Liverpool”, and is encouraging further talks with the Premier League leaders.

Liverpool close in on Milos Kerkez after Bournemouth latest

Football Insider revealed on 7 March that Liverpool's move for Kerkez is "progressing well" as Szoboszlai has played a key role in talks.

The left-back has established himself as one of the most highly-rated left-backs in the Premier League and has started all 29 of Bournemouth’s games this season.

This comes amid concerns about the long-term role of Andy Robertson in the side as a result of his performances since Slot’s arrival.

Bournemouth are expected to demand upwards of £40million for Kerkez this summer as they plan to make a significant profit on the £18million spent in 2023.

However, that is not expected to be an issue as former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 11 March that Liverpool are prepared to meet Bournemouth’s asking price.

Alongside the potential addition of Kerkez, Slot is planning the arrivals of a number of defensive reinforcements when the window opens.

Liverpool want to sign a new centre-back and right-back, amid concerns about the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold who could both leave this summer.

Football Insider revealed on 23 March that Liverpool are interested in signing Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan in a deal that could be worth £60million.

However, Inter Milan are not keen to lose their star man this summer and view him as a crucial part of Simone Inzaghi's long-term plans.
