Cristiano Ronaldo is in advanced talks over an eye-watering new contract with Al Nassr.

The Portuguese forward joined the Saudi Pro League side in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United.

Ronaldo has since scored 75 goals and provided 18 assists in 84 appearances for the club.

However, his current deal is set to expire at the end of this season, with less than six months remaining on the contract.

According to Ben Jacobs, though, Al Nassr are looking to extend Ronaldo’s stay by another year.

Although the extension is not yet complete, talks are said to be progressing positively.

Ronaldo is set to be offered a deal worth £3million-a-week plus bonuses as well as a new role.

The 39-year-old will also become an ambassador for the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia in a nine-year deal.

FIFA confirmed last month that the nation will host the tournament for the first time after running uncontested.

The 25th edition of the World Cup is set to be held between January and February in seven years time.

Ronaldo is understood to be keen to stay in Saudi Arabia as he looks to keep himself in contention for the 2026 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League executives believe his involvement in the league’s next TV rights cycle is crucial to their deal.

The domestic and international TV rights for the Saudi Pro League are due for renewal in the summer.

Ronaldo was the division’s top scorer with 35 goals last term in his first full campaign for Al Nassr.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has continued that form into this season with another 17 goals and three assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.

However, Al Nassr currently find themselves third in the table after 14 matches.

Stefano Pioli’s side are nine points adrift of title rivals Al Hilal and Al Ittihad at the top of the standings.
