Right now Thomas Partey's future seems to be up in the air at Arsenal – the midfielder's contract expires at the end of the season and fresh negotiations are yet to begin.
At 31-years-old, Partey has seen a dramatic improvement in his fitness record at Arsenal this season, his 42 appearances have already well surpassed the 16 he managed last term.
And in terms of an audition for a new deal, Partey has also been incredibly versatile for Arteta, filling in at right-back when needed.
But with Arsenal keen to sign Martin Zubimendi it seems as if new sporting director Andrea Berta may be immediately tasked with overseeing a midfield overhaul in a few months time.
And although both Partey and Jorginho could still sign new contracts, it currently looks like the experienced duo will begin a new challenge elsewhere.
Thomas Partey celebrated for his work rate and goal threat for Ghana
That being said, Partey continued his impressive club form for Ghana over the break and the Arsenal midfielder actually managed to score twice in a 3-0 win against Madagascar on Monday evening.
Partey was playing alongside the likes of Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus – two attackers linked with Arteta's side.
However, it was Partey who made the difference offensively on this occasion, a performance that was celebrated by local media.
Joy Online gave Partey an 8/10 for his efforts and wrote: "One of the best performers on the pitch for Ghana.
"He was neat and tidy in possession and also came up with the goods, scoring twice from two headers."
Kickgh gave the Arsenal man a 8.5/10 rating and echoed similar thoughts: "One of Ghana's standout players.
"His presence in midfield was crucial, and he capped off his performance with two well-taken headers."
Yen then described Partey's display as a 'header masterclass' given he scored twice from set-pieces – something Arsenal fans would like to see more often at club level.
And the outlet then wrote a glowing review of Partey's contributions above both games for Ghana over the break.
They said: "Arsenal’s Thomas Partey has often been the backbone of Ghana’s midfield, and he once again demonstrated why he is so crucial for the Black Stars.
"His contributions in these two matches were nothing short of wonderful.
"Against Madagascar, Partey scored a brace, both of which came from headers. His aerial dominance was unmatched, and his ability to position himself in the right place at the right time proved to be a vital asset.
"Partey's influence wasn't just limited to his goal-scoring. In both matches, he provided the necessary defensive cover, breaking up opposition attacks and distributing the ball efficiently.
"His work rate and vision in the midfield allowed Ghana to transition smoothly from defense to attack, controlling the tempo of the game."
Will Thomas Partey sign a new contract at Arsenal?
Of course, it is worth mentioning that Berta and Partey worked together at Atletico Madrid previously.
And therefore Berta's arrival might be good news for Partey eventually being offered a new deal.
That being said, both Barcelona and Atletico have spoken to Partey about a potential return to La Liga.
The midfielder also has interest from the Saudi Pro League, Serie A and the Bundesliga – and it's no surprise given the performances that he's still contributing at Arsenal.
A difficult decision for Arteta and his prospective new sporting director Berta, who will have no doubt noticed Partey's contributions for his country over the break.
