Erik ten Hag's future at Manchester United remains unclear, and the pressure is on the Dutchman ahead of this weekend's game against Aston Villa.

Indeed, Ten Hag is in trouble at Old Trafford, and there's already been plenty of chat about who could replace the current United boss.

Graham Potter has long been linked with Manchester United, but according to Sam Allardyce, the former Chelsea boss has ruined his chances of getting the job.

Potter appeared on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football this week, and he seemed to slightly hint towards the idea that he'd spoken to Manchester United in the summer.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Allardyce slammed Potter for his comments, claiming that he should keep these matters quiet and that Manchester United now won't speak to him.

Sam Allardyce says Graham Potter won't get Manchester United job

Big Sam spoke about the former Brighton manager and his comments this week.

"Dangerous thing to say. That means that Man United won't speak to him now as far as I would say," Allardyce said.

"You don't let something like that out publicly. You keep that as close to your chest as you can and you pray every night that Man United are going to call you. To let that out publicly is not a good thing, it creates a media frenzy."

Graham Potter shouldn't get the Manchester United job

Graham Potter may have blown his chance to get the Manchester United job, but the reality is he should be nowhere near this role anyway.

As poor as Manchester United are at the moment, this is still one of the biggest jobs in world football, and Potter hasn't earned the right to take this type of role.

Let's not forget, the 49-year-old was an abject failure at Chelsea, and while his Brighton team played some decent football, Roberto De Zerbi took the Seagulls to higher heights when he took over.

Potter shouldn't be in the conversation for these types of jobs, regardless of what he's saying in the media.
