With the international break now under way, Arsenal’s hierarchy and coaches will be eager to take stock and build on the foundations they’ve laid.

The Gunners currently sit third in the Premier League table, just one point off the top, and have done well in their opening Champions League games.

Most of Arsenal’s players have thoroughly impressed this season, with some showing a notable improvement from the 2023/24 campaign.

Darren Bent has now spoken about a Gunners player who has been doing particularly well this term and praised how he seems to have toughened up.

Darren Bent says Kai Havertz has become ‘a bit nasty’ at Arsenal

The player in question is Kai Havertz, who is currently in red-hot form for Arsenal, with six goals and one assist from 10 outings this term.

The Germany international has scored in every single game the Gunners have played at the Emirates Stadium so far this season.

Havertz has also developed what Bent has described as a “nasty” side, compared to how he was at Chelsea.

"He had big moments and won big trophies at Chelsea,” Bent said on talkSPORT (8/10/2024, 4:41pm). “You can't hide that fact. Champions League final.

“And the reason why I say he is turning into one of Arsenal's most important players is that the gaffer very rarely wants to take him off and he can play in a number of positions well.

“He can play number nine, which I think is his best position, number nine, he can play the eight, he can play the 10. I think he has got so many attributes to his game. He can play out wide if he has to.

“What I like about him at Arsenal is he wants to get stuck in. I always felt at Chelsea he was a little bit soft, people would push him over.

“Now, he is a bit nasty, he throws his elbow if he has to, he wins his headers, he holds the ball up. He has added goals to his game as well.”

Arsenal signing Kai Havertz proves to be another Mikel Arteta masterstroke

Havertz has gone from strength to strength at Arsenal, with plenty of pundits regularly singing his praises.

For instance, Chris Sutton deemed Havertz a super-intelligent footballer recently, while Clarence Seedorf recently hailed the forward’s movement off the ball.

Another Mikel Arteta decision has been completely vindicated. Havertz struggled at first and, as always, critics can’t wait to get their digs in. That’s no longer the case.
