Liverpool will look to secure the win that will guarantee them top spot in the Premier League at Christmas when they head to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Reds have been in fine form for the most part this season, but two Premier League draws in a row have allowed Chelsea to get within touching distance.

Liverpool will be taking on an unpredictable Tottenham side that can thrash anyone on their day but whose defence is currently depleted.

Liverpool team news v Tottenham

Liverpool’s injury and suspension situation has eased, with only Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley unavailable for the trip to North London.

Andrew Robertson is available for selection after serving a one-match suspension for the Carabao Cup tie at Southampton in midweek.

Federico Chiesa and Kostas Tsimikas are also available once again, returning as substitutes on Wednesday night after recent injury absences.

Darwin Nunez tipped to remain in Liverpool starting XI as Cody Gakpo drops out

Slot is likely to replace Caoimhin Kelleher with Alisson Becker in between the sticks after the Republic of Ireland international played in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

The Liverpool boss will probably also go with the same back four that started against Fulham, namely Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Robertson.

Alexis Mac Allister could start again after being withdrawn on the hour mark in midweek, and he should be fully match-sharp after back-to-back suspensions.

Ryan Gravenberch is also likely to start, while the choice between Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai is a particularly hard one to call.

Jones could be given the nod in midfield by a fine margin, having started all three matches prior to the cup game in midweek.

As for the front line, Slot could opt for Luis Diaz on the left, Darwin Nunez up front and Mohamed Salah on the right.

Nunez scored in midweek and the Liverpool boss could well look to give him the chance to boost his confidence and his goal tally further against a makeshift Spurs defence.

Cody Gakpo would drop out of the starting XI, though the £35million man could be called upon off the bench later on in the game.

An exciting game could be on the cards, with Slot praising Ange Postecoglou’s style of play and saying there shouldn’t be such a criticism as “too attacking football”.
